Each winter a team of Builders, Architects, Designers, Artists, Snow builders and Ice Sculptors come together in Jukkasjvari to build the coldest hotel made from ice. The already ice itself is taken from the nearby Torne River which are havested springtime. The river in every season is also a big part behind the design of the hotel, whether the river is crystal clear ice, grayling or rapid it still inspires and gives great ideas to the designers and artists working on the hotel.
Every Spring the hotel is then closed as the warm rays from the sun start melting away the walls. The ice then turns to water and the water flows straight back to Torne River. Each year over 60,00 guests will come and stay at the hotel in either cold or warm accomodation and some guests will even Marry in the ice hotels own church.
